Mike LaFleur started his NFL offensive coordinator career in 2021. He spent the previous four seasons as passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. He came to the New York Jets when Robert Saleh was hired as the head cNow we come to the fifth rookie NFL offensive coordinator in the form of Frank Smith. Smith heads to Miami to work with rookie head coach Mike McDaniel, having spent 2021 as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach of the Chargers. Before heading to Los Angeles, Smith worked as a tight ends coach with the Bears (2015-17) and Raiders (2018-20) and as an assistant offensive line coach with the Saints (2010-14).
Smith does have experience as an offensive coordinator, but only in college. Smith spent three years as the OC at Butler between 2007 and 2009.oach in the 2021 offseason.
